Community Focus

ISHPI’s vision of making a difference through community service currently includes three programs. ISHPI is committed to and proudly serves as champions of the following programs:

The ISHPI Warrior Program

The ISHPI Warrior Program includes our commitment to veterans of all services. We have started with our support to the Wounded Warrior Project and their mission of honoring and empowering wounded warriors (www.woundedwarriorproject.org), as well as our dedication to providing counseling, mentoring, and career and professional growth advice to active duty members and veterans, especially those involved in the establishing or operation of veteran-owned or service disabled veteran-owned small businesses.

The ISHPI Exceptional People Program

The ISHPI Exceptional People Program focuses on the needs and support of vital programs such as: Special Olympics South Carolina, who provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities (www.so-sc.org); Rein & Shine, who has created and sustain an equine-assisted therapy facility where people with disabilities of all kinds can learn, grow and heal (www.reinandshine.org); the College of Charleston's Realizing Educational and Career Hopes (REACH) Program providing students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities the opportunity to realize their intellectual and personal potential, and to become responsible, productive members of society (CofC REACH); ;and Charleston-area Special Olympics and the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department’s Unified Athletics program, both focused on providing opportunities for children with disabilities to participate in team sports and to train and compete in athletic events.

ISHPI’s “Save Second Base” Program

The “Save Second Base Program” is designed to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s fight against breast cancer. The National Breast Cancer Foundation’s (www.nationalbreastcancer.org) mission is to save lives by increasing awareness of breast cancer through education and by providing mammograms for those in need.

It is our belief that these three programs are only the “tip of the iceberg” when considering the difference that Team ISHPI is making throughout our communities.
